Just Do It

Just Do It

We are what we repeatedly do. You are what you repeatedly do. Your kids are what they repeatedly do. Because this is true, an integral part of child training is what the children are required to execute.

It’s easy to fall into the trap that we are what we believe, or what we say we believe. That’s not really true. It doesn’t matter what I believe or say I believe if my actions do not correspond with those beliefs. I can say I believe in the value of hard work and that I am a hard worker…neither makes me a hard worker.

It doesn’t matter if I say I am a professional golfer, think like a professional golfer, and even understand the game like a pro…I am only a pro golfer if I can execute…that is DO golf at a professional level. Conversely, I can say I am NOT something, yet clearly by my actions be that very thing I deny.

So it is with our kids…we have to insist, prod, push, teach, and oftentimes require that our kids DO what we want them to become. I can talk theory and principle all I want to, and they may understand quite well, but they are going to be what they repeatedly do…whether they choose or you do.
