So Now That He’s Won…

What is our responsibility? Regardless of whether he represents the ticket that received your vote, what now? What do we tell our kids? Consider this:

  1. There is no authority except from God, and those that exist are appointed by God (Romans 13:1).
  2. I am to pray for our President (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
  3. I am to submit to the authorities God put in place unless he or his laws conflict with the Truth set forth in Scripture (1 Peter 2:13-17).

I started this piece by noting the time and day it was written (Monday, the eve of the Presidential election). It has been rolling around in my head for quite some time. I wrote it and scheduled it to be published on Wednesday morning for my own accountability. The ideological differences between the two Presidential candidates are breathtaking…but they do not change my Scriptural obligations to whomever wins. The winner of this election will not change what I teach my kids.

Until next time…
